Easily Measure The Temperature Brewing and Distillation Equipment

If you're going to install a thermometer in a brew kettle or a still, think twice before you purchase the lowest cost option! A lot is riding on temperature. You could end up wasting a lot of time and money if your thermometer is junk (and a lot of them are). Before you buy, make absolutely sure you're getting 100% stainless steel, make sure it has an appropriate temperature range, and make sure it's fairly large so you can actually get an accurate read on the temp. Also, never buy a thermometer that cannot be calibrated.

We searched far and wide to find the stainless thermometer we offer for sale here. In fact, we've wanted to sell thermometers for a long time but never found one that met our specifications but was also affordable. Our hard work and patience paid off and we finally found the perfect fit, available for purchase below.

Specs:

  • Large, 3" Face, 2" Probe
  • 1/2" NTP threads, 100% stainless
  • 0-220 F with calibration screw

We offer 2 thermometer kits, either (or both) are available for order below.

Boiler Thermometer:

Our copper boiler thermometer includes a stainless steel thermometer and 1/2" NPT, 100% copper, fitting.

Our stainless boiler thermometer includes a stainless steel thermometer

Column Thermometer:

Our copper column thermometer includes a stainless steel thermometer, a copper tee, two 1/2" copper stubs, and a 1/2" NPT pipe adapter.

Our stainless column thermometer includes a custom stainless steel adapter, all required fittings, and a stainless steel thermometer.

Installation:

To install the boiler thermometer, simply drill or cut a hole in the side of a still, large enough to accommodate the 1/2 pipe fitting. Solder the fitting to the copper still. Wrap the thermometers 1/2" male NPT threads with high temp, chemical resistant thread tape and screw it into the fitting. Hand tighten and snug with pliers. Do not over tighten. Here are detailed instructions and a video tutorial on installing a thermometer.

To install the column thermometer, install the 1/2" stub directly into the copper reducer at the top of the column. Insert the end of this stub into the middle leg of the copper "T." Attach the 90 degree street elbow (and the rest of the condenser arm) to one side of the T. In the other side, install the other stub and the threaded NPT adapter. If that doesn't make sense, just make it look like the column thermometer pictured on this page!

It shipped the same day I ordered it and was at my door 3 days later. The parts went together like a dream. Everything fit exactly as it was supposed to. The video instructions made this build very easy.
