This is a homebrew recipe kit that sets you up to succeed. This Australian Sparkling Ale recipe kit comes with every pre-measured ingredient you need to brew Martin's Australian Sparkling Ale, a 5-gallon all-grain batch, from grain to glass.

The Australian sparkling ale is essentially one beer: Coopers, brewed in Adelaide since the 1860s and still bottle-conditioned today. It pours a hazy gold, roused by the yeast sediment that drinkers traditionally tip back into the bottle, and carries the lively carbonation that gives the style its name. The flavor runs fruity and lightly bready, dry and quenching in a warm climate.

This kit points the finish toward home with Galaxy, an Australian hop known for passionfruit and citrus, set against a clean pale malt base. The high carbonation keeps it crisp right through.

A Note On Substitutions

This kit includes Maris Otter in place of the recipe's Pale Malt, Maris Otter (Thomas Fawcett); Crystal 50 in place of the recipe's Thomas Faucett Crystal Malt I; Magnum in place of the recipe's Pacific Jade. We stock dry yeast only, so SafAle S-04 (English Ale) dry yeast stands in for the recipe's British Ale Yeast (Wyeast Labs 1098).

  • This kit is built for brew-in-a-bag (BIAB), the simplest way to make all-grain beer at home. The basic brew day looks like this:

    1. Heat your water and steep the milled grain to make wort.
    2. Boil the wort, adding the hops on the schedule in the recipe.
    3. Cool the wort down quickly, then transfer it to your fermenter.
    4. Pitch the yeast and let it ferment for about two weeks.
    5. Bottle or keg, wait for carbonation, then enjoy.

That yields roughly 53 bottles of fresh Australian Sparkling Ale. It works great with our digital electric homebrew systems, which hold your temperatures for you, though any kettle and burner will do.

  • This is a recipe kit, so it includes the ingredients only. To brew it at home you will also need:

    • A brew kettle or an electric all-in-one brewing system
    • A grain bag for brew-in-a-bag (or a mash tun for a traditional mash)
    • A fermenter with an airlock
    • A thermometer and a way to chill the wort
    • Sanitizer, and bottles or a keg for packaging
