The easiest beer recipe kits start with fresh, measured ingredients. This Baltic Porter recipe kit comes with every pre-measured ingredient you need to brew Martin's Baltic Porter, a 5-gallon all-grain batch, from grain to glass.
Baltic Porter grew out of the strong English porters shipped across the North Sea to the Baltic states in the 1700s. Local brewers took up the style and made it their own, usually fermenting cold with lager yeast rather than warm with ale yeast. The result is a big, dark, smooth beer: think dried fruit and dark caramel over a soft roast that never turns sharp or ashy.
Around eight percent, this one uses Munich and crystal malts for depth, Carafa and pale chocolate for color, and a lager fermentation to keep it clean under all that strength. Styrian Goldings and Perle round out the hopping.
