If you have been wanting to make beer at home, start right here. This Belgian IPA recipe kit comes with every pre-measured ingredient you need to brew Martin's Belgian IPA, a 5-gallon all-grain batch, from grain to glass.
The Belgian IPA is a modern hybrid, an attempt to marry the hop intensity of an American IPA with the spicy, fruity character that Belgian yeast throws off. It took shape in the 2000s as Belgian brewers answered the craft hop movement and American brewers reached for abbey and saison strains. The result comes out drier than most IPAs, with pepper and orchard fruit from fermentation sitting next to the bitterness.
Here the hopping leans continental, using Styrian Goldings, Saaz, and Tettnang instead of the usual American citrus, which lets the abbey yeast lead. The beer pours pale gold and finishes crisp and slightly warming.
