Make delicious beer at home without a chemistry degree. This Bière de Garde recipe kit comes with every pre-measured ingredient you need to brew Martin's Biere de Garde, a 5-gallon all-grain batch, from grain to glass.
Biere de Garde is the farmhouse beer of French Flanders and the Nord-Pas-de-Calais, its name meaning beer for keeping. Farm brewers made it in the cooler months and stored it to drink through summer, which gave it a smooth, cellared character. It comes out maltier and rounder than its Belgian saison cousin, running from blond to deep amber, with a bready sweetness and a clean finish that hides its strength. This one crosses eight percent while staying easy to drink.
Tettnang and Hallertau keep the hopping restrained and continental, and a bit of honey in the grist lifts the finish and thins the body the way the style intends.
