Cashmere

Melon, Lime & a Whisper of Coconut • Smooth and Sessionable

Cashmere was released by Washington State University in 2013, a cross of Cascade and Northern Brewer. It lives up to its name: soft melon and lime with a subtle coconut note and a notably smooth bitterness, without the aggressive edge of high-alpha American hops.

At around 8% alpha acids it works as a gentle dual-purpose hop, and its silky profile makes it a favorite in pale ales and lighter IPAs where harshness has nowhere to hide.

Usage Recommendations

For a 5-gallon batch, Cashmere shines in late-boil, whirlpool, and dry hop additions. Pair it with Sabro to push the coconut angle or with El Dorado for a fruit-salad profile.
