Brewing your own beer just got a whole lot simpler. This Märzen recipe kit comes with every pre-measured ingredient you need to brew Martin's Marzen, a 5-gallon all-grain batch, from grain to glass.
Marzen is the original Oktoberfest beer, named for March, when Bavarian brewers made it before summer brewing was banned, then lagered it in cool cellars until autumn. It pours amber to deep copper and leads with toasty, bready Munich and Vienna malt and a touch of caramel, then closes clean and dry so the maltiness never turns heavy. Hopping is low, there only to balance.
This is the beer the festival was built on, before the lighter golden Festbier took over the tents in recent decades. It is richer and more toasted than its modern replacement, and to plenty of drinkers it remains the truer taste of the season.
