Make beer at home and taste the difference that fresh makes. This Munich Helles recipe kit comes with every pre-measured ingredient you need to brew Martin's Munich Helles, a 5-gallon all-grain batch, from grain to glass.
Munich Helles was Bavaria's answer to the pale pilsners moving in from the north and from Bohemia in the late 1800s. Rather than copy their hop bite, Munich brewers built a pale lager around malt: soft, bready, faintly sweet, with just enough Hallertau hop to balance. The name simply means "pale," and the beer is the golden mainstay of Munich's beer halls.
Everything about it is understated. The pilsner and Vienna malt give a gentle grainy-sweet backbone, bitterness stays low, and the finish is clean without turning dry. It rewards good process, since there is nowhere for flaws to hide.
