This is the simplest way to brew all-grain beer at home. This Blonde Ale recipe kit comes with every pre-measured ingredient you need to brew

This is the simplest way to brew all-grain beer at home. This Blonde Ale recipe kit comes with every pre-measured ingredient you need to brew Martin's Mystery Yeast, a 5-gallon all-grain batch, from grain to glass.

This one started as an experiment: a simple blonde ale used as a blank canvas to ferment out an unlabeled, mystery yeast and find out what it would do. The base is deliberately plain, pale and lightly hopped with a touch of Tettnang, so any character in the finished beer comes from the yeast rather than the grain or hops.

A blonde ale is the right test bed for it. There is little roast, haze, or bitterness to hide behind, so a strain's fruit, spice, or clean neutrality shows up plainly. Brew it with whatever yeast you want to get to know.

  • This kit is built for brew-in-a-bag (BIAB), the simplest way to make all-grain beer at home. The basic brew day looks like this:

    1. Heat your water and steep the milled grain to make wort.
    2. Boil the wort, adding the hops on the schedule in the recipe.
    3. Cool the wort down quickly, then transfer it to your fermenter.
    4. Pitch the yeast and let it ferment for about two weeks.
    5. Bottle or keg, wait for carbonation, then enjoy.

That yields roughly 53 bottles of fresh Blonde Ale. It works great with our digital electric homebrew systems, which hold your temperatures for you, though any kettle and burner will do.

  • This is a recipe kit, so it includes the ingredients only. To brew it at home you will also need:

    • A brew kettle or an electric all-in-one brewing system
    • A grain bag for brew-in-a-bag (or a mash tun for a traditional mash)
    • A fermenter with an airlock
    • A thermometer and a way to chill the wort
    • Sanitizer, and bottles or a keg for packaging
