This is a beer making kit just about anyone can pull off. This Ordinary Bitter recipe kit comes with every pre-measured ingredient you need to brew Martin's Ordinary Bitter, a 5-gallon all-grain batch, from grain to glass.
Ordinary bitter is the everyday pint of the English pub, the lightest of the bitters and, at well under 4 percent, built for drinking a few without ceremony. Despite the name it is not aggressively bitter; "bitter" simply set it apart from the sweeter milds of its day. What you get is biscuit and light caramel malt, a gentle earthy hop, and a dry, moreish finish.
It shows best from a cask at cellar temperature, soft and low in carbonation, which is the setting the English session tradition grew up in. A beer this modest was always meant to be poured fresh, so plan on drinking it young.
