Make beer at home and skip the guesswork for good. This Pale Kellerbier recipe kit comes with every pre-measured ingredient you need to brew Martin's Pale Kellerbier, a 5-gallon all-grain batch, from grain to glass.

The pale side of the Kellerbier family keeps the same idea, unfiltered lager served young from the cellar, but starts from a straw-gold Pilsner base instead of amber malt. Expect a hazy, pale pour with a soft grainy sweetness and the fresh yeast bite that filtration strips away. It sits under five percent, built for drinking by the liter.

Perle and Hallertau Mittelfrueh give it a clean noble hop character without pushing the bitterness too far. The haze is part of the point, so there is no fining or filtering here.

A Note On Substitutions

  • This kit is built for brew-in-a-bag (BIAB), the simplest way to make all-grain beer at home. The basic brew day looks like this:

    1. Heat your water and steep the milled grain to make wort.
    2. Boil the wort, adding the hops on the schedule in the recipe.
    3. Cool the wort down quickly, then transfer it to your fermenter.
    4. Pitch the yeast and let it ferment for about two weeks.
    5. Bottle or keg, wait for carbonation, then enjoy.

That yields roughly 53 bottles of fresh Pale Kellerbier. It works great with our digital electric homebrew systems, which hold your temperatures for you, though any kettle and burner will do.

  • This is a recipe kit, so it includes the ingredients only. To brew it at home you will also need:

    • A brew kettle or an electric all-in-one brewing system
    • A grain bag for brew-in-a-bag (or a mash tun for a traditional mash)
    • A fermenter with an airlock
    • A thermometer and a way to chill the wort
    • Sanitizer, and bottles or a keg for packaging
