There is no simpler way to brew your own beer. This American Amber Ale recipe kit comes with every pre-measured ingredient you need to brew Martin's Pumpkin Beer, a 5-gallon all-grain batch, from grain to glass.
Pumpkin beer is one of the oldest American styles, dating to colonial times when settlers short on barley fermented what they had, gourds included. The modern version is less about pumpkin flesh and more about the pie, an amber ale base laced with baking spice. It pours copper, with a toasty, bready malt character underneath.
Here the malt does the groundwork, with aromatic and Munich grains for a bready base, and Northern Brewer keeps the hopping restrained so the spice can sit forward. You add your own ginger root and nutmeg during the brew, which lets you set the spice level to taste rather than following someone else's hand.

A Note On Substitutions
This kit includes 2-Row Pale Malt in place of the recipe's 2-row American Pale Malt (Briess). We stock dry yeast only, so SafAle US-05 (American Ale) dry yeast stands in for the recipe's American Ale (Wyeast Labs 1056). Not included, add your own: 1.00 tsp Ginger Root; 1.00 tsp Nutmeg.
