Home brewing made easy starts with a kit like this one. This Doppelbock recipe kit comes with every pre-measured ingredient you need to brew Martin's Trippelbock, a 5-gallon all-grain batch, from grain to glass.
Doppelbock is the strong end of the German bock family, first brewed by Paulaner monks in Munich who called their potent lager "liquid bread" and drank it through Lenten fasts. Commercial versions still nod to that origin with names ending in -ator, after the original Salvator. It runs deep amber to brown, intensely malty and warming, with flavors of toasted bread crust and dried fruit.
At nearly ten percent, this batch pushes past the usual doppelbock strength, which is where the playful "Trippelbock" name comes from. A stack of Munich and specialty malts carries the load while German lager yeast keeps it clean underneath all that sweetness.
