Everything you need to make beer at home is in the box. This New England IPA recipe kit comes with every pre-measured ingredient you need

Everything you need to make beer at home is in the box. This New England IPA recipe kit comes with every pre-measured ingredient you need to brew Martin's Tropics Hazy IPA, a 5-gallon all-grain batch, from grain to glass.

The New England IPA came out of Vermont in the 2010s and rewrote what an IPA could look like. Brewers dropped the crushing bitterness of the West Coast style and chased pure hop flavor instead, using oats and wheat for a soft, hazy body that looks like orange juice in the glass. The bitterness is low and the mouthfeel full, with loud tropical aroma on top.

Big whirlpool and dry-hop charges do the work rather than a hard bittering addition. Galaxy brings passionfruit and peach, with Cascade rounding out the citrus over a grain bill built for haze and a plush texture.

  • This kit is built for brew-in-a-bag (BIAB), the simplest way to make all-grain beer at home. The basic brew day looks like this:

    1. Heat your water and steep the milled grain to make wort.
    2. Boil the wort, adding the hops on the schedule in the recipe.
    3. Cool the wort down quickly, then transfer it to your fermenter.
    4. Pitch the yeast and let it ferment for about two weeks.
    5. Bottle or keg, wait for carbonation, then enjoy.

That yields roughly 53 bottles of fresh New England IPA. It works great with our digital electric homebrew systems, which hold your temperatures for you, though any kettle and burner will do.

  • This is a recipe kit, so it includes the ingredients only. To brew it at home you will also need:

    • A brew kettle or an electric all-in-one brewing system
    • A grain bag for brew-in-a-bag (or a mash tun for a traditional mash)
    • A fermenter with an airlock
    • A thermometer and a way to chill the wort
    • Sanitizer, and bottles or a keg for packaging
