Skip the recipe math and just make great beer at home. This Weissbier recipe kit comes with every pre-measured ingredient you need to brew Martin's Weissbier, a 5-gallon all-grain batch, from grain to glass.

Bavarian weissbier is a wheat beer in the truest sense: more than half the grain is wheat, and the yeast is the star. Fermented warm, that yeast throws the two aromas the style lives on, banana and clove, over a pale, hazy, softly bready base. For centuries the right to brew it was a royal monopoly, which tells you how prized it was.

Pour it into the tall weizen vase and you get a thick, mousse-like head and a beer that is cloudy on purpose, the yeast left in suspension. High carbonation and a light body make it one of the most refreshing beers going, and a gentler place to start than its stronger cousins.

A Note On Substitutions

This kit includes Wheat Malt in place of the recipe's Wheat Malt, Pale (Weyermann). We stock dry yeast only, so SafAle WB-06 (Wheat) dry yeast stands in for the recipe's Hefeweizen Ale (White Labs WLP300).

  • This kit is built for brew-in-a-bag (BIAB), the simplest way to make all-grain beer at home. The basic brew day looks like this:

    1. Heat your water and steep the milled grain to make wort.
    2. Boil the wort, adding the hops on the schedule in the recipe.
    3. Cool the wort down quickly, then transfer it to your fermenter.
    4. Pitch the yeast and let it ferment for about two weeks.
    5. Bottle or keg, wait for carbonation, then enjoy.

That yields roughly 53 bottles of fresh Weissbier. It works great with our digital electric homebrew systems, which hold your temperatures for you, though any kettle and burner will do.

  • This is a recipe kit, so it includes the ingredients only. To brew it at home you will also need:

    • A brew kettle or an electric all-in-one brewing system
    • A grain bag for brew-in-a-bag (or a mash tun for a traditional mash)
    • A fermenter with an airlock
    • A thermometer and a way to chill the wort
    • Sanitizer, and bottles or a keg for packaging
